Clubs share Suffolk Competition Honours
After a three and a half year absence, the Suffolk Cup returned as a preseason competition as opposed to an end of season finale. Most Suffolk clubs saw this as an ideal opportunity to get their first team squads together and play some friendly and competitive hockey.
On the 20th of August the Ladies Suffolk Cup was held at Tuddenham Road, where Ipswich managed to stave off challenges from Christchurch and Carlton Park to lift the Cup. The new Ladies Suffolk Vase was held on the 21st of August at Henley Road, a competition for ladies teams who are around the standard of the Suffolk Premier League. Haverhill were victorious in this competition, managing to beat Ipswich and Felixstowe in the process.
On the 27th of August was the highly competitive Men’s Suffolk Cup, with 6 teams participating the standard was very high, with Felixstowe running out eventual winners after beating Ipswich-East Suffolk in the final 3-0, and not conceding a goal throughout the competition.
Congratulations to all teams who participated, I was disappointed I couldn’t make it to the Ladies competitions, but from what I understand all 3 competitions were successful. Hopefully we will build on this year and have some great competitions next season.

Bob Harness
It is with great sadness that Lowestoft Railway Hockey Club must announce the passing of Bob Harness who was taken from us suddenly on 31st May. Bob was a founding member of our club and served as Hon. Secretary and Fixture Sectretary for over 40 years. He was well known throughout the county for his dedication to and passion for hockey. He will be greatly missed, not only within Lowestoft Railway but also by those who had the pleasure to know him from the wider hockey family. Our sincere condolences go to his family and many friends.
