Ipswich Ladies closed the gap on league leaders Chelmsford to 1 point after a 10-1 demolition of Dereham. Goals from Chloe Hunnable x4, Jessica Bloom x2, Annika Broster, Emma Millar, Camilla McWhirter & Faye Curran make Ipswich the top scorers in league. Ipswich travel to Harleston Magpies next weekend hoping to secure another 3 points to keep the pressure on Chelmsford before the National League break.
Despite being on the wrong side of a 10-0 defeat at home to Maidstone, Ipswich 2’s are currently mid-table in the East Premier League, joined by Bury St Edmunds who beat Sevenoaks 2’s, and Lowestoft who won their Suffolk derby with Sudbury. Sudbury are still to gain a point this season, but will be hopeful this weekend with Ipswich 2’s paying them a visit.
In Division 1 North both Suffolk teams suffered defeat and find themselves in the bottom four, Ipswich 3’s lost to Lincoln 5-1, and IES were beaten away by top of the table Wisbech Town.
Carlton Park are just one point off top spot after a win in the Suffolk Derby of Division 2NE, defeating strugglers Haverhill 5-1 who remain bottom of the league. Christchurch picked up a point away to Norwich Dragons 2’s after a 3-3 draw.
In the Suffolk Premier League Grasshoppers opened up the title race by beating Sudbury Ladies 2’s 2-1, Castaways have leapfrogged Sudbury after winning away against Felixstowe 2-0.
Draws for Ipswich Men’s 1’s & 2’s on Saturday takes them both to 4 points in their divisions, Ipswich 2’s earned their point away at Division 1 new boys Felixstowe. Felixstowe are now only 2 points away from 2nd place, though due to the good performance of our East sides in the National League, it is more than likely that they will all stay up, which will result in extra promotions, and 3rd place in Divison 1 gaining promotion to Premier B next season. Felixstowe travel to the west side of the A14 Cambridge City to face their 2nd team, hopefully they will come away with 3 points. Also in Division 1 Bury St Edmunds are having a tough time of things, they lost to Cambridge City 2’s 4-3, however despite having the record of played four lost four, there biggest defeat has only been by 2 goals, and they have already played the top 3, hopefully they will pick up a point or 3 away to Old Southendians.
In Division 2 North Ipswich-East Suffolk made Bourne’s long journey to Suffolk pointless, they beat them 4-2. IES are just 3 points behind the league leaders, and next opponents Market Deeping.
Division 3NE is now led outright by Sudbury 1’s, they beat Pelicans 2’s 3-0. Ipswich 3’s ended Ipswich Cranes 100% record by beating them 2-0. Lowestoft Railway 1’s beat North Walsham 2’s 6-0 to maintain their 100% record and are now 3 points clear in Division 4NE.
